Memorial MBA students recapture National Case Competition Championship
For the fourth time in five years, Memorial advanced to the final round of the prestigious Concordia Cup, the trophy awarded to the victorious team at the National MBA Case Competition Championship. Memorial’s team, Stephanie Boyd, Susan Pereira, Heather Shapter and Doug Youden, recaptured the national case competition championship, which Memorial had won in 1988 but lost to the University of Windsor in 1989 with a second-place finish. The ninth annual competition, held in Montreal, January 17-20, attracted 18 teams from the best graduate business schools in the country. For their first-place finish, the team was presented with the $2,000 Bank of Montreal scholarship, to be equally divided among the team members.
The team was coached by Dr. Alex Faseruk, associate professor of finance and Tim Morgan, assistant registrar. Dr. Faseruk brought more than 10 years of experience with case competitions beginning with his own national championship.
