Case studies
Last February 23-25, MBA students from Quebec and Ontario gave each other the business. Hosted by Concordia, MBA students from five universities‚ÄîConcordia, Laval, McGill, Ottawa and UQAM ‚Äî slugged it out in Canada’s first-ever case competition. The winners were the teams from McGill and UQAM who tied for first; Concordia was runner-up.
The competition consisted of presenting the teams with the business affairs of a paper mill and a clothing factory. The teams had to figure out what the problems were and how to solve them.
Sponsors of the event included Air Canada, Alcan, Avon, Corby’s, the Institute of Management Consultants of Quebec and the Association des MBA du Quebec. Executives of these institutions also served as judges.
